Rainbow Breathing (FREE PRINTABLE)

Rainbow Breathing is a fun way to get kid’s engaged with mindful breathing. The concept is simple, we use the visual of a rainbow to control and time our breathing. Download the free printable to make the exercise more fun (and easy).

  1. Rainbow Breathing (using printable)

For this exercise your child will trace the rainbow with their finger.

Start at the arrow beneath the red line, breathe in as you trace the red line.

Pause your breathe while you switch the arrow under the orange line, breathe out while tracing the orange line.

Pause breathe, switch to yellow line, breathe in while tracing yellow line.

    Continue to finish the rainbow.

2. Rainbow Breathing extension (with printable)

Follow the instructions for the rainbow breathing printable.

Add a visualization by asking your child to picture red objects while tracing the red line, orange objects while tracing the orange line, continue with yellow, green, blue…

note: if it’s too difficult for them to do both of these things at once, you can use the visualization without timing breathes. Try each way to see what works for your child.
